Instructions on how to use the Bejeweler

  • Before you plug in your BeJeweler, choose the correct size tip to match the rhinestone you are using. Tips are etched on the side with the size number. If in doubt, place the tip over the rhinestone. It should pick up the rhinestone.
  • Gently screw the tip into the end of the BeJeweler.
  • Prepare your work surfaces and, if applying to fabric, use a firm, flat surface. For sheer fabrics, place a PTFE sheet under the fabric or between layers or the rhinestone may bond the surfaces together.
  • Allow the BeJeweler to heat for 3 - 5 minutes.

Place the rhinestones (face up) on a flat, hard surface. Gently place the tip over the rhinestone - do not push down. The tip will pick up the rhinestone for you. Allow the heat to melt the glue on the back of the rhinestone - the glue will begin to look wet. Small stones take very little time - larger stones will require more time. Place the rhinestone onto the surface of your item and immediately lift the tip up. The tip of the tool should not be held onto the surface of the item. Turn the tip of the tool to the side and gently press the crystal down to make certain it is tightly adhered to the surface.

Notes:

  • Allow the tool to cool before storing.
  • Never touch the metal portions of the tool while it is hot.
  • For a quick method of decorating with two or more size crystals, use two or more tools with the size tips needed for your project.
  • If a rhinestone gets stuck in the tip, push the rhinestone out by sliding a pin into the slot on the side of the tip. NOTE: This happens if you push down while applying the rhinestone or if you hold the tip onto the surface of your fabric rather than immediately lifting. Brush the tip thoroughly with a wire brush to prevent reoccurrences.
  • When applying to special surfaces like velvet, netting and silk flowers, place the heated stone just barely above the surface and use a pin to push the rhinestone out of the tip.
Use a wire brush to keep your tips clean. The brush is included with newer BeJeweler model or can be purchased separately on our website. With the tip in the tool and the tool preheated, brush the tip thoroughly inside and out. It is normal for glue to adhere to the tips and brushes off easily.
  • THIN FABRICS (silk, etc.) - Use a PTFE (Teflon) sheet between layers of thin fabrics to prevent them from sticking together when using hot fix embellishments.
  • Net - you can add rhinestones to nearly any item including net, however since there are only a few threads for the glue to grab, and glue will go onto the surface beneath, always use a PTFE sheet beneath the item and slide a pin or thin card stock (we use a business card) to pop the crystal out onto the net instead of putting the tip onto the net. Hold the tip of the tool barely above the net when using this method and turn the tip to the side and rest the solid metal side of the tip on the top of the rhinestone for a second or two.
